Maintaining Sales Numbers

While Scaling Down

Joanna is one of the best farmers I know. She’s a plantswoman through and through, and has an intuitive sense of what her crops need. She’s also built a thriving business over the years with Bluma Farm. It all began on two acres in Sunol, CA, but she eventually transitioned to a rooftop farm in her hometown of Berkeley. Flowers growing on a roof - it’s a crazy site to see!

Over the years, I’ve worked with Joanna in isolated sessions to be a second set of eyes on her plans. We’ve focused on:

  • The move from 2- acres to a much smaller farm plot (many stories up in the air!).

  • Expanding sales channels that work for her, and shrinking or eliminating ones that don’t.

  • Managing weddings and events with a limited team.

  • Troubleshooting crop planning on limited space.

I always appreciate Lennie’s willingness to jump in and help me face farm challenges with a supportive (yet no BS) mindset.
